About Coach Cyril

Cyril Bouniol is a professional golfer, instructor, and founder of Birdie Buddies. After spending more than a decade competing professionally around the world, Cyril created Birdie Buddies after recognizing a gap in youth golf instruction for young children. While introducing his son, Luka, to the game, he realized that many golf programs were designed for older kids and were not adapted to the way toddlers and young children learn. Drawing from his experience as both a touring professional and a father, Cyril developed an innovative curriculum specifically designed for children ages 3–8. By simplifying the game through age-appropriate activities, games, and challenges, Birdie Buddies helps children build golf skills, confidence, coordination, and a love for the game in a fun and engaging environment. Whether a child is picking up a golf club for the first time or already has experience with the game, Birdie Buddies is designed to help young golfers learn, grow, and succeed at their own pace. More than a golf program, Birdie Buddies reflects Cyril's belief that golf is a powerful tool for teaching life lessons. Every class incorporates values such as respect, honesty, patience, perseverance, responsibility, and sportsmanship while creating positive experiences that children will carry with them long after they leave the golf course.

A note from Cyril

I am Cyril Bouniol, a touring professional and instructor with 13 years of experience competing at the highest levels of the game. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of playing on prestigious tours such as the DP World Tour, Challenge Tour, PGA Tour, and Korn Ferry Tour, securing seven professional wins around the globe.

I grew up in Southern France, where I was first introduced to golf at the age of 10 through a school field trip. What started as a casual pastime quickly turned into a lifelong pursuit. The local course became my sanctuary, a place where I could challenge myself, learn patience, and push my boundaries. Those early years shaped not only my skills but also my deep love for the sport and the values it represents.

My golf journey took me from the Pyrenees mountains to Abilene Christian University, where I enjoyed a remarkable collegiate golf career. I was fortunate to win the NCAA Division II Individual National Championship, the Lone Star Conference Championship, and the South Central Super Regional Individual Championship. My hard work earned me recognition as a 3-time All-American, a member of the All-Nicklaus Team, and the recipient of both the Arnold Palmer Award and the Byron Nelson Award. Representing my home country of France, I also competed in and won the European Team Championship, a defining highlight of my amateur career.

My time at ACU shaped me not only as a golfer but also as a person. It was there that I met my wonderful wife, Sharlotte. We married in 2014 and have since built a life together in Aledo, Texas, where we are raising our 4-year-old son, Luka. Golf brought us together, and it continues to be a central part of our lives as we instill its values in Luka and share its joys as a family.

Over the years, I’ve worked with some of the world’s top swing coaches, sports psychologists, and trainers, which has helped me develop a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to improving the game of golfers at every age and level
